Troubled Thoughts

“North Bend, WA” by Bella, Grade 11

I've been having trouble writing so I thought if I thought enough I could think of a way to write you off

Maybe even call it a lost cost but I love you and that's the difference between like

You hold a place in my heart but not enough for me to have to think twice

I've been having trouble writing so I thought if I thought enough I could think of a way to write you off

Maybe even make it a soft fall but I loved you as in past tense even though you weren't asking to know but that's just how life goes

I've been having trouble writing so I thought if I thought enough I could think of a way to write you off

Maybe even let you know through a call or over coffee we used to share a venti toffee almond roast just to see who had the most to tell and who's secrets had the most value to sell

But that was when I loved you...

Again i've been having trouble writing so I thought if I thought enough I could think of a way to write you off

But it didn't work I just thought about our memories both good and bad

The ones with good laughs

And the days we crashed and clashed to the sound of our own thunder

The sound of the rumble struck us both with lightning until the grey clouds fade to white and we thought it was over

We were out of each other's sight...

For a week or a month I forget because you left me for my friend and one day it felt like ten years and not minutes

But I was the bad guy...

I've been having trouble writing so I thought if I thought enough I could think of a way to write you off

But you came back like my asthmatic cough

My medication isn't helping

It just brings me down more than you ever did

But that's ok...

Because I was having trouble writing so I thought if I thought enough I could think of a way to write you off...

And I did

I'll just say goodbye forever because as I thought my thoughts got deeper and told me to say it simply

I had been having trouble writing goodbye because I didn't want my fairytale story to die

But it did and so did my thoughts of you…
