Apply to Join the 2026-27 Student Editorial Board

The Student Editorial Board is the heart and soul of CHARM, a supportive community of middle and high school students from across Baltimore who are passionate about journalism, creative writing, storytelling, and publishing.

As CHARM’s citywide youth publishing program, the Editorial Board brings together young people who are committed to amplifying youth voices and sharing meaningful stories from their communities.

The program operates annually from September through May, with students meeting in person every Tuesday from 4:00–5:30 PM. Participants receive a stipend in recognition of their commitment and contributions throughout the school year.

The Student Editorial Board is divided into two focus areas: Journalism and Publications. This structure allows students to explore different forms of writing and media while developing their literacy, communication, leadership, and creative skills. Through collaboration, workshops, publication opportunities, and real-world projects, students gain hands-on experience creating content that informs, inspires, and reflects the experiences of Baltimore youth.
