Black History Month Call for Writing Submissions


Theme: Places We Belong

Prompts to inspire your thinking:

  • Who is a person from the past who broke barriers? Describe a person or group who fought for change.

  • Who is a person in your life who inspires you?

  • What does community mean to you? How has your community helped you find your place?

  • What future do you envision for the Black community?

Genre: Students are invited to submit poetry, short stories, or mini-essays.

Word count: 300 words or less.

Due Date: Friday, January 24


Selected pieces and writers will be invited to attend the “Places We Belong” reading in February 2025 hosted in partnership with Gordon Feinblatt Attorneys at Law.
