They have asked me how ‘rona break is

They have asked me how ‘rona break is

I have said “bored” countless times

But maybe it's not

“Where I would Rather Be” by Meghan, Grade 9

I have learned to cook and make soap

I have done school online

I have talked to my friends

played games

watched shows

eaten

exercised

‘rona break has been countless things

it has been educating and stupefying

it has been losing weight and gaining weight

it has been scary and fun

But most of all it has been eye-opening

It showed me what happens when you don't use common sense or don't follow regulations and I applaud the government for once in a while making good decisions but it happens to be the one time we don't follow them.

They have asked me how ‘rona break is

I have said “bored” countless times

but maybe it's not

Why can't we be free like birds in the sky?

“Druid Hill at an Angle” by Etta, Grade 8

Why can't we be free like birds in the sky?

We're just stuck in our homes as the days go by

I just want to fly and be free

But the World has declared that I stay where I be

I just want to escape and explore

But I stay trapped in my house lying on the floor

I stare at the ceiling bored out of my mind

And in my head nothing you'll find

My imagination grows dull as a lay in my bed

My only emotions are those of dread

I check my phone hoping to find some form of inspiration

But all I find are forms of devastation

The feeling of dread returns worse than before

As I stay in my home locked in by a door

But the birds can fly to every tree

While I'm stuck in captivity

Those birds are flying filled with joy and glee

So why can't one of those birds be you or me?

They have many dreams but we have them rarely

So why is it us who is treated unfairly?

Stuck in our houses with nowhere to go

My wishes of freedom seems to grow

But my hope for this only decreases

As I know there will be no releases

But I know we are all in this together

Each of us representing a feather

Those feathers will grow into a bird

And every single voice will be heard

But for now I wait for our time

Where each voice will sound like a chime

Each chime loud and clear

I know our moment will near

“All around I’m weak

Shaking in fear, I can’t think

Wash this world clean God”

By Jianni, Grade 12

We are all stuck in a room with no light

We are all stuck in a room with no light

It’s darker than the darkest night

People are losing the fight

“3D Module Sculpture” by Myah, Grade 12

It’s sharper than the sharpest knife

Fear has flooded the land

Deeper than anyone had planned

Everyone is so alone

More than an empty home

But even in this time of doubt

We must remember not to go out

Even so we stay connected

And happiness can be detected

Look out my window to a rainbow of colors

“Wizard of Oz” by Phoenix Shelton, Grade 8

Look out my window to a rainbow of colors

Colors of all kinds Red blue and so many others

The bricks on the building next door

Are a beautiful red and so much more

There is also the sun

Orange and yellow it's so much fun

Do not forget the leaves on the trees

Are green just like peas

Down the street what do I see

A door as blue a the deep blue sea

But what do I find when I look up high

A blue the color of the sky

Now we have most of the colors of the rainbow

Sorry but I've got to go
