Untitled Drawing by Evie, Grade 7
I’m imprisoned in my own house
The government decided to do this to me
“It’s for your own safety,” they said
“It will be over soon,” they said
The big liars

When you say your life is full of pain
When everything just falls apart
The rainbow is always after rain
Everybody has some heart
When you say your life could not get worse
There is no happiness left to gain
Why is life just such a curse
The rainbow is always after rain
Once school was closed for a while
The students started to get wild
Little did they know
Where this would go
The next few weeks would be vile
“Plague” by Johan-Marc, Grade 12
Boredom is driving me crazy
Open to new ideas
Ready to see my friends
Extra time with my bird
Down to try new things

“Untitled” by Jon, Grade 11
With our current situation
That has spread across our nation.
The day has become boring and gloomy
The spaces in our houses have become very roomy.
With all of the scrappiness,
John Krasinski has provided some happiness.
With all this happening and retired doctors on the sidelines
They are now open fighting for us on the front lines.
We are all becoming very hurried,
While we also become scared and worried.
While I'm all caught up in online school,
The new virus is being quite cruel.
We do what we can do and what we see fit
This virus needs to make like a drum solo and beat it.

Her ears like wings
Her claws like tap dancers
Her coat like sunset
Her floof like a blizzard, going everywhere
His eyes shine like a pot of gold.
His tongue is like a twizzler.
His nose is black like midnight.
His tail moves like a feather duster.
His brown coat puffy like a cloud.
"Lookout Ahead" by Jon, Grade 11
The friends are gone,
The cousins are gone,
The friends of the cousins are gone,
They are all depressed
Due to one little germ

“Wake me up when this is over” by Emma, Grade 7
We're all
Six feet apart
And it feels so far
But I refuse to get closer
Because, though six feet is long,
Six feet down
Is longer.
Bored is what everyone says
When they’re stuck at home in their bed
Thinking of nothing but dread
Saying nothing about what was said
“Dance” by Aniya, Grade 6
Dancing is fun
Dancing is unique
Dancing sets me free
When I dance
All my anger free
And my sadness
It makes me happy
When I'm down
Hip pop
Is my dance
I love the way
It sets me free
It's my style
Just for me
You can dance
But not like me
Because I'm unique
You may be unique
But not like me
I'm one of a kind
And no one is better than me
