Chasing Destinaetions is the debut collection of poet Destinae BreAnn, two-time winning Baltimore Youth Poet Laureate. This collection is a collaboration between CHARM, YPL, and Dewmore Baltimore. Poet and mentor, Meccamorphosis writes, “In this book you are reading a map to self love, self exploration, and the transition of black girlhood to womanhood in real time. The poetry is that of gemstones: raw, shiny and pure.”

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Destinae BreAnn is a stimulating Performing Artist, Educator, Writer, and Comedian based in Baltimore, MD. She has been writing poetry since before the age of seven and began competing in poetry slams in 2018. Since then she has been awarded the title of Youth Poet Laureate twice (2020 & 2021), the first achievement of its kind. She has been published in anthologies from Urban Word Poetry. Destinae has performed across the East Coast for 4 years. She has also hosted and curated workshops and open mics for all ages, teaching not only poetry to children and adults alike, but also teaching bodily consent to children. She loves taking up space in the public eye performing and sharing her talents with as many people as possible. This book is an open field for self exploration via her personal experiences.

Deleicea Greene is an inspiring youth poet who is also known as Obsidian as her performance name. She has been writing poetry for over seven years and has been Slamming for five years. She has been published in anthologies from Maryland Institute College of Art and other poetry books. Deleicea is Baltimore’s 2019 Youth Poet Laureate.
